What is WAEC subject combination for public administration? This article discusses the WAEC subject combinations for admission to public administration programs at Nigerian universities.

WAEC Subject Combination for Public Administration

The requirements set forth by JAMB for the UTME, direct entry (A level), and subject combinations eligible for waiver or special consideration are as follows.

Meeting the requirements and having the right subject combinations for the course as required by the school you wish to study are unquestionably important factors in getting accepted into the tertiary university of your choice in Nigeria to pursue your chosen course of study.

Your chances of getting into the school and the course you so much want to enroll in during that specific admission year are often eliminated if you are unable to meet this requirement. Having the right topic combinations is more important than passing every subject with honors or distinction.

For a post in public administration, candidates must have received at least five credits in the relevant subjects on their O-level exams (NECO, GCE, and WAEC). The JAMB UTME subject pairings listed below are necessary for those who want to work in public administration:

  • English language
  • Mathematics
  • Economics
  • Government.

In order to be considered for public administration, a prospective candidate must receive at least a credit in each of the following five O’Level subjects:

  • Mathematics,
  • English,
  • Government,
  • Economics,

and any other social sciences subject like History, Commerce, Accounting, etc.

Accepted JAMB Score For UTME

Even though 180 is typically the cut-off score for admission to any academic institution, entrance exams are usually extremely difficult to get into in the country, much less for a highly competitive course like public administration. A score of 200 or higher is considered secure.

If your JAMB score is below 180, you can apply to Colleges of Education and Polytechnics, which also offer this course.

Admission Requirement

The following fundamental requirements must be met in order for applicants to enroll in any of the universities listed below to study public administration:

Four subjects are required: Economics, Government, and English Language, along with any additional two courses that total at least five (5) “O” level credits each. It should be noted that studying public administration does not require a mathematical background.

Applicants need to achieve the minimum required score for the university or polytechnic of their choice. If you receive a minimum score of 240 or higher, your chances of being accepted into the public administration program of your choice university will be increased.

The prerequisites listed above are the absolute minimum for public administration degrees at universities. When you complete the post-UTME admission applications, the institutions will, however, let you know about any additional requirements.
