About the Ron Brown Scholarship

The Ron Brown Scholarship pays tribute to the legacy of Ronald H. Brown through a competitive scholarship program aimed at advancing higher education for intellectually gifted and community-minded African Americans.

The RBSP selectively awards 45–50 four-year scholarships, each valued at $40,000 ($10,000 annually), to the most talented and economically challenged high school seniors.

These individuals should demonstrate a strong interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship, and global citizenship – the four pillars embodying Ronald H. Brown’s mission to uplift people of all races, cultures, and ethnicities, especially disadvantaged youth.

Recipients have the flexibility to utilize the renewable scholarships at any accredited four-year college or university of their choice within the United States.

Ron Brown scholarships are not confined to a specific field or career objective and can be applied to pursue any academic discipline. Since the program’s establishment in 1996, 634 students have been designated as Ron Brown Scholars.

Applicants for the Ron Brown Scholarship must be Black/African American, U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and current high school seniors at the time of their application.
