Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, known as ONGC Scholarship, is one of India’s top state enterprises. It has the distinction of being the nation’s leading producer of crude oil and natural gas.

ONGC Scholarship

ONGC, one of the “Most Admired Energy Companies” according to Fortune, has established various standards during the course of its existence.

The corporation has put into practice several projects as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts centred on women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, education, healthcare, and more.

The ONGC scholarship is one of ONGC’s initiatives to encourage higher education among SC/ST students. The ONGC Scholarship 2024 scholarship program offers a unique chance to students enrolled in their first year of engineering, MBBS, MBA, or Master’s in Geophysics/Geology programs.

This scholarship, administered as part of ONGC Limited’s CSR program, honours and funds the academic pursuits of 2000 deserving students each year.

Indian students enrolled in the designated courses can apply for and receive the ONGC scholarship.

  • Students from the SC, ST, OBC, and general categories are eligible to apply.
  • There is no stated maximum age for the scholarship.
  • The student must be enrolled in their first year of an engineering, medical, business, or geophysics/geology graduate program.
  • No precise score requirement for the scholarship is mentioned.

Application Process for ONGC Scholarship

The ONGC scholarship application procedure is as follows:

  • All eligible applicants must submit paper applications.
  • Visit the ONGC scholarship’s official website.
  • Click the “Apply for Scholarship” button to begin the application process.
  • Complete the application form by entering all necessary information (note: The form must be filled out in capital letters).
  • Along with the completed application, upload all the supporting materials duly certified and submitted by the Dean, Head, or Principal of the relevant University, Institute, or College.
  • Send in your application.

The application for the scholarship is not online. The official ONGC scholarship page has an application form that can be downloaded there.

The authorized ONGC office of the relevant zone should also receive a hard copy of the completed application and any supporting paperwork.

Instead of your residence, the zone to which you can apply depends on where you attended college, institute, or university to complete the qualifying exams.

Documents Required

A few necessary attachments are required to complete the ONGC scholarship application and verify the accuracy of the information given. Before applying for the scholarship, it’s crucial to have the following necessary documents on hand:

  • Passport-size photograph of the applicant
  • Caste certificate (in English/Hindi language)
  • Age proof (birth certificate/class 10th mark sheet)
  • Marksheet of the qualifying examination
  • Annual family income certificate (in English/Hindi language)
  • Bank details (in the prescribed format)
  • Copy of the PAN card
  • Copy of Aadhaar card
  • Copy of undertaking

IF YOU HAVE THESE DOCUMENTS, the ONGC scholarship application procedure will be easier to complete.

Selection Criteria

Your academic achievements will be considered when awarding this scholarship based on merit. The firm itself chooses the list of scholars that are ultimately chosen. The selection process for engineering or medical school students is based on their achievement in the class 12th exam.

On the other hand, candidates for an MBA or Master’s program in geology or geophysics are chosen based on their performance during their undergraduate studies.

If two or more applicants receive the same score on the qualifying exam, the applicant with the lower household income will be given preference.

Additionally, students from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families are given preference; however, if there are insufficiently qualified kids from BPL families, consideration will also be provided to other pupils.

Terms and Conditions

The ONGC has created a set of requirements that students must achieve for the scholarship to be implemented and disbursed effectively. These circumstances include:

  • Any other scholarships or financial aid should not be awarded to students who want to apply for the ONGC scholarship.
  • Scholars must do satisfactorily in their annual exams to keep their scholarship every year.
  • The scholar’s behaviour is also considered for the scholarship’s continuation.
  • Students must receive at least 50% of the possible points or 5 out of 10.
  • The scholarship won’t be awarded for that year if a student doesn’t achieve the behaviour or academic performance standards.
  • Students may submit a scholarship renewal application form in the required manner if the scholarship is discontinued and they wish to continue receiving it. But they can only do this if they can earn the necessary percentage of points or grades.

These requirements guarantee that the scholarship is successfully used and that recipients maintain the requisite grades and conduct to keep their awards.
