NEDC Scholarships: The creation of an Education Endowment Fund (EEF) with an initial allocation of NGN6,000,000,000.00 (six billion naira) was approved by the NEDC Governing Board.

The EEF is designed to address the North East’s low levels of human development and high illiteracy and poverty rates, which have been noted in several national and international records and official and non-governmental assessments.

One of the Funds’ regional activities is the NEDC scholarships and awards program. Numerous young individuals are excluded from society because they cannot afford to pursue any education.

As a result, the region’s socioeconomic indicators have declined over time. By giving funds and access to opportunities for formal and informal education, the Fund is eager to close these gaps, particularly for orphans, girls, and other underprivileged kids.

NEDC Scholarships Advantages

NEDC Candidates from each of the six North Eastern States are fully sponsored for bachelor’s degrees. The candidates should have training in pertinent programs in Nigerian universities.

NEDC Master’s degree scholarship: two years of training for applicants in each North Eastern state. The recipients may receive training through demand-driven programs in Nigeria or abroad.

Sponsorship of candidates for doctoral degrees from each of the North Eastern States throughout three years. Reputable universities in Nigeria and abroad can train the beneficiaries in relevant fields.


Eligibility Criteria

For the NEDC grant and scholarship to be available to you, you must:

  • Must be a citizen of Nigeria.
  • Applicants must be natives of one of Nigeria’s northeastern states, specifically Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, or Yobe.
  • Must be an HND Certificate, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, or Ph.D. student currently enrolled in or accepted to a higher education institution (with an admission letter) in any discipline.
  • When choosing recipients of the NEDC Bachelor’s degree scholarship, a 60:40 male-to-female ratio may be considered.

Requirements for NEDC EEF Scholarship

To promote justice within and across all communities, gender parity, and human capital development beneficial to socioeconomic growth in the STI (Science, Technology, and Innovation) sector, scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria. development that is knowledge-driven in the NE Region:

Full sponsorship for candidates from each of the six states in the Northeast for a bachelor’s degree. Candidates should have received the necessary training at institutions in Nigeria. The ratios of 70:30 for science to the arts and 60:40 for male-to-female beneficiaries may be used.

Each state in the North East region will provide candidates with a master’s degree scholarship with a two-year training period. Beneficiaries may participate in demand-driven programs both domestically and internationally.

Three-year sponsorship of candidates for doctoral degrees from each of the North Eastern states. At reputable universities in Nigeria and overseas, beneficiaries can receive specialized training.
