General Objectives Jamb Syllabus For Music

Preparing candidates for the Board examination is the goal of the music Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) syllabus. It is intended to assess whether they have met the following course objectives:

  1. Respect and engage in fair and critical discourse regarding music
  2. Determine, via written or auditory examination, the characteristics of music from various eras in Western and African music theory history, peoples, forms, and media.
  3. Recognize how sociocultural and technological aspects affect musicians’ lives and music.
  4. Get a solid musical foundation for postsecondary education.
