 Ishan Uday Scholarship: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has created a unique scholarship program called Ishan Uday specifically for students in the North Eastern Region (NER).

Under the Ishan Uday scholarship program, NER students pursuing general degree programs, technical and professional degrees, including medical and paramedical programs, are awarded a total of 10,000 new scholarships each year. 

The scholarship recipients receive a monthly payment of up to INR 7,800 every year till they finish their degree program.

Eligibility Criteria for Ishan Uday Scholarship

Candidates must have completed their 10+2 in the NE Region from a recognized board, such as the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education), or NIOS (National Institute of Open Learning).

The candidate must reside in the NE region and have a NE region domicile.

The grant is also open to first-year graduates of undergraduate programs.

The candidate’s parents’ combined income cannot exceed Rs 4.5 lakh.

Candidates who identify as transgender may also apply for the scholarship; they will receive the same level of consideration as other applicants.

The candidate must have applied to and been accepted into the general, professional, medical, and paramedical programs at the colleges listed below: Universities, colleges, and institutes supported by the federal or state governments.

The college or institute must be of national significance.

Institutions covered by UGC Act‘s Section 2(f), 12(B).

according to Section 3 of the UGC Act of 1956, and they must be qualified to receive grants from the UGC.

The other Statutory Councils from both inside and outside must acknowledge the universities.

In dual degree programs, the scholarship is only good for the first degree; in integrated programs, it is good for the entire course. The University will be in charge of giving and outlining the specifics when suggesting candidates for the Ishan Uday Scholarship 2024.

Exclusions

These people will not be qualified for the Ishan Uday Scholarship 2024.

1) Students enrolled in open university courses or programs.

2) Students who are already receiving financial aid for their undergraduate studies through another program.

3) Students admitted under the “management quota.”

4) Students studying programs like diploma courses that do not result in a degree.

5) Students whose parents earn more than Rs. 4.5 lakh annually.

  • Students taking combined courses will also be covered by this program. For Double Degree courses with distinct tenures, it won’t apply.
  • This scholarship program will distribute slots based on the population of each Northeastern state.

How to Apply

To apply for the Ishan Uday scholarship online, follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Visit the NSP website and select “New Registration”.

Second Step: Next, click “Continue” to be sent to a screen where you may fill out all the required information in the sections marked with a’*’.

Step 3: You must select “Incentive Type” as your scheme type and “Post Matric or Top Class or MCM” as your scholarship category.

Step 4: Subsequently, input your cell number to request an OTP (or “One Time Password“). Carefully enter that OTP for a successful registration.

Step 5: Click “Submit” and “Login to Apply” to access the portal.

Step 6: After that, thoroughly fill out the application and upload all of the necessary documents that have been attested. After that, click “Submit” to finish your application for this program.
