The $2,800 state scholarship is granted for the first two semesters of your initial year in college.

If you qualify for a HOPE Scholarship, the award will be specified in your notification after the Office of Undergraduate Admissions receives your final high school transcript.


Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for this program, you must meet the following criteria:

1. You must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible noncitizen according to state residency statutes.

2. At the time of high school graduation and during the award period, you must be a resident of South Carolina.

3. You should have graduated from a South Carolina high school or, if graduated from a high school outside of South Carolina, done so while dependent on a parent or legal guardian who is a legal resident.

If you graduated from an out-of-state high school, it is essential to self-identify with the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships to ensure inclusion in the university’s review of LIFE-eligible students.

4. You must be a full-time, first-year undergraduate student pursuing your initial baccalaureate degree.

5. You should not be concurrently receiving either a South Carolina Palmetto Fellows or LIFE Scholarship.

6 No convictions of second or subsequent alcohol or drug-related misdemeanors in any state within the past academic year are allowed.

7. You must not have been adjudged delinquent or convicted, pled guilty, or nolo contendere to any felony in any state.

8.No default or owe a refund or repayment on any federal or state financial aid is permissible.

9. A final high school grade point average of 3.00, based on the SC Uniform Grading Policy, is required.

10. You must be maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress.
