Critical Language Scholarship

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) forms a crucial part of the U.S. government’s initiative to significantly increase the number of Americans proficient in 14 foreign languages deemed vital for national security and economic well-being.

This program, spanning 8–10 fully funded weeks abroad, immerses American undergraduate and graduate students in language and culture.

It caters to individuals at all proficiency levels and from diverse academic backgrounds. Encouragement is extended to students across various disciplines and majors to submit their applications.

Successful participants are expected to sustain their language studies post-scholarship and apply their acquired critical language skills in their future professional endeavors.

Those interested in applying are advised to schedule a personalized consultation with Alicia Hayes at the OURS National Scholarships Office.
