The Social Welfare Department of Chhattisgarh is offering the CG scholarship for the year 2024, which aims to support and provide opportunities to students from the SC/ST/OBC/Minority categories.

The Government of Chhattisgarh has already distributed CG scholarships totaling INR 165 crore to more than 275,000 students.

This scholarship amount is significantly higher than in previous years, showing a five to six-fold increase.

The ‘Shiksha Sahyog Scholarship program assists students at both the pre-matric and post-matric levels by granting them educational funds every six months.

Additionally, the ‘Shiksha Protsahan scheme provides financial aid to students pursuing professional education.

Different Types of CG Scholarships

The Chhattisgarh government offers a variety of scholarship possibilities to the state’s eligible and distinguished students to support them in continuing and completing their education.

Students can get complete information and submit applications for these scholarships through the online Chhattisgarh State Scholarship Portal 2.0 of the Social Welfare Department.

The list of all scholarships, their sponsors, eligibility requirements, rewards, application deadlines, and procedures are included here.

1. Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC Students

This scholarship is provided by the Department of SC/ST Welfare

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicants must be pre-matriculated students.
  • The candidates’ annual household income cannot be more than INR 2,000,000.

Awards

Every year, male students will receive a scholarship worth INR 450 and qualifying OBC girls will receive INR 600.

Every year, SC/ST male students who qualify will receive a scholarship of INR 800, while SC/ST female students will receive a scholarship worth INR 1,000.

27 April 2024 – 03 May 2024 (for students studying in Chhattisgarh)

04 May 2024 – 08 May 2024 (for students studying outside Chhattisgarh)

2. Rajya Chatra Vritti Scheme

This scholarship is provided by the Department of SC/ST Welfare

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students from Classes 3 to 5 who are SC/ST girls or Classes 6 to 8 who are SC/ST/OBC students may apply.
  • The applicant’s family cannot be subject to income tax.
  • The family of the applicant may not own more than 10 acres of land.

Awards

Every year, a scholarship worth INR 500 will be given to deserving female students in Classes 3 through 5.

Every year, male students will earn INR 600, and qualifying SC/ST girls in Classes 6 through 8 would receive INR 800 in scholarships.

Every year, male students will receive INR 300 and qualifying OBC girls would receive INR 450 in scholarships.

3. Post Matric Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC Students

This scholarship is provided by the Department of SC/ST Welfare

Eligibility Criteria

For SC/ST applicants, the household income cannot be more than INR 2,50,000, and for OBC applicants, it cannot be more than INR 100,000.

The applicants must be enrolled in post-matriculation coursework.

Awards

Every year, non-hostellers will receive INR 2,250 and qualifying SC/ST hostellers would receive a scholarship worth INR 3,800.

The following will be awarded to the qualified OBC candidates:

The annual fee for hostellers is INR 1,000 for class 11 students and INR 1,100 for class 12 students.

Non-hostellers pay INR 600 per year for Class 11 students and INR 700 per year for Class 12 students.

4. Kanya Saksharta Protsahan Yojana

This scholarship is provided by the Social Welfare Department, Chhattisgarh

Eligibility Criteria: The applicants must be girl students studying in Class 5 and above.

Award: The eligible female students will receive a scholarship worth INR 500 every year.

27 April 2024 – 03 May 2024 (for students studying in Chhattisgarh)

04 May 2024 – 08 May 2024 (for students studying outside Chhattisgarh)

5. Unclean Business Scholarship Scheme

This scholarship is provided by the Social Welfare Department, Chhattisgarh

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must be enrolled in Classes 1 through 5.

The program is open to only a few professions and not all of them. Students from families who have one of the following jobs are eligible:

  • Scavenging families
  • Flayer families
  • Tanners
  • Waste picking/ collecting families

The students are required to provide the annual income certificate of their family.

Award: The eligible applicants will receive a scholarship worth INR 1,850 every year.

04 May 2024 – 08 May 2024 (for students studying outside Chhattisgarh)

6. Chief Minister Gyan Protsahan Initiative Scheme

This scholarship is provided by the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education

Eligibility Criteria

Both Class 10 and Class 12 students are required to apply.

The candidates must have received honors in their prior studies.

Additionally, they must be enrolled in either the Central Board of Secondary Education Board (CBSE), the Indian Council for Secondary Education (ICSE), or the Chhattisgarh Secondary Education Board (CGBSE).

Award: The selected students will receive a scholarship worth INR 15,000.

Application Process

To apply, candidates must go to the Chhattisgarh Scholarship Portal website, fill out the application in the required format, and send it via the institution’s head of school to the district office of social welfare or Janpad panchayat office.

7. DTE Chhattisgarh Scholarship

This scholarship is provided by the Directorate of Technical Education, Chhattisgarh

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must have received at least 60% on their Class 12 exams.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) must have given approval to the institution the applicant graduated from.

Award: The eligible students will receive a scholarship worth INR 2,000 per month.

Application Process

To apply, candidates must complete the application form in the proper format and mail it via the institution’s head to their address.

Documents Required for CG Scholarship

The application procedure for each CG scholarship is considered incomplete until the necessary supporting documents are provided.

To validate their eligibility for the scholarships, students are required to submit specific documents.

While the requirements may differ depending on the different schemes, the following is a general list of the primary and essential documents needed for most schemes in the state.

Applicants must ensure that they have both the original and photocopies of these documents readily available before applying for any CG scholarships.
